"Day 1: Salt Lake City
Today, our western adventure begins! Fly into "The Crossroads of the West," Salt Lake City, and meet our tour director at the Airport by 1:00pm, where he will assist us with claiming our luggage. (*Please arrive at the Salt Lake Airport before 1:00pm) Next, board our motorcoach for a tour of Salt Lake City’s highlights. We will first visit "America’s Dead Sea," the Great Salt Lake, where we will have a chance to photograph and even taste the waters of this vast inland sea. Next, enter Salt Lake City for a tour of the historic downtown area, the State Capitol, the University of Utah, and the place where Brigham Young first looked upon the Salt Lake Valley. This evening, enjoy a special get-acquainted dinner. (D)

Day 2: Mormon Tabernacle Choir/Jackson
A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity awaits us this morning! Special seating has been arranged for us at Temple Square, where we will have a chance to hear the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s weekly broadcast performance. (Choir’s schedule permitting). After the broadcast, leave Salt Lake City and make our way to the frontier town of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Travel through northern Utah’s alpine dairy country for our first stop at the America West Heritage Center. Then we’ll drive past jewel-like Bear Lake; then, continue north through lovely Star Valley into the Wild West town of Jackson. The evening is free for us to enjoy the many shops, art galleries and restaurants that make up this fun western town! (B,L)

Day 3: Grand Teton/West Yellowstone
From Jackson it is only a short drive to the Tetons, the youngest and most rugged mountains in America. With this giant mountain range as a backdrop, we will see the wildlife, the flora, and the sheer magnitude of nature. As we explore Grand Teton National Park, we will stop at beautiful Jenny Lake, and then visit the magnificent Jackson Lake Lodge. This afternoon, we leave the Tetons and enter Yellowstone National Park, where we’ll have lunch at the Old Faithful Inn, on the site of the world’s most famous geyser. After taking the chance to see Old Faithful, the Park’s best-known landmark, and the Lower Geyser Basin in action, we will explore the colorful Fountain Paint Pots as you make our way to West Yellowstone for a two-night stay. Day 4: Yellowstone National Park
After a relaxing morning, continue our exploration of Yellowstone by traveling the incredibly beautiful Upper Loop. Stop for a fascinating walking tour of the terraces at Mammoth Hot Springs. Then view both the upper and lower falls at the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Travel through Hayden Valley with its large buffalo herds then continue along the shores of Yellowstone Lake. After a full day of scenic beauty, arrive back in West Yellowstone, Montana for dinner at a local restaurant. (B,D)

Day 5: West Yellowstone/Deer Lodge/Missoula
This morning enjoy true Montana as we depart Yellowstone National Park. Travel through Beaverhead and Deerlodge National Forests for spectacular scenery. See the Madison Canyon Earthquake area and enjoy Alder Gulch, home of the historic ghost town - Virginia City. We’ll then travel through Butte heading for Deer Lodge. Stop at Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site for a glance into the life of a cattle baron of the late 1800’s. Then travel to Missoula for overnight at the Holiday Inn Parkside. (B,L)

Day 6: Missoula/Big Fork
Today we will stop at the Smokejumpers Base Aerial Fire Depot near Missoula, MT. Displays include dioramas, historical photographs, and artifacts relating to the history of firefighting in the Forest Service. Forest Service smokejumpers give guided tours of the base and offer firsthand accounts of firefighting and smoke jumping. Then we’ll continue our journey with a stop at St. Ignatius Mission, established in 1854 for the Flathead Indians. This church is said to be among the most beautiful in the world. Continue through the Flathead Indian Reservation and stop for a scatter lunch in Big Fork, Montana. Big Fork, the "Village by the Bay" is on the shores of Flathead Lake. Big Fork is home to restaurants, galleries, cherry orchards and a performing arts center. Overnight in Kalispell, Montana for next two nights. (B,D)

Day 7: Glacier National Park
Sightsee Glacier National Park via the world famous "Going to the Sun Highway," amid magnificent snow capped peaks, gleaming lakes, and the virgin forests of the McDonald Valley. This 52-mile drive that crests the Continental Divide at Logan Pass is famous for its majestic mountains and deep valley floors. We’ll stop for lunch at Lake McDonald Lodge located on the west side of Glacier National Park. Return to Kalispell for a tour of the historic Conrad Mansionbefore returning to our hotel. (B)

Day 8: Big Sky Country/Lake Coeur D’Alene
After breakfast, the beautiful Kootenay Valley awaits us as we travel west into the lake country of the Upper Sand Point Idaho region. We’ll stop in the historic mining town of Wallace, Idaho. It is famous as the "Silver Capital of the World", and every building in town is listed in the U.S. National Historic Register. We’ll take the Sierra Silver mine tour today, the only tour of its kind in the Northwest. It offers a rare and exciting opportunity to personally experience the underground world of mining in the richest silver district on earth. Hard hats are issued at the portal and an experienced miner is our guide as we walk through the main drift of the mine where displays and exhibits explain techniques used to mine silver, lead and zinc. Then we’ll continue our journey, skirting the banks of the Pend Oreille River. We will be arriving at the most picturesque lake of them all: Lake Coeur d’Alene. Explore the bays and inlets of one of the world’s most beautiful lakes aboard the Fun Fleet of Lake Coeur d’Alene Cruises. It is a short drive to Spokane, Washington, site of the 1974 World’s Fair. Tonight, join the group for a farewell banquet. (B,D)

Day 9: Journey Home
This morning individual transfers have been arranged to the airport for our journey home. As we depart the Rocky Mountains, we’ll be taking along memories of new friends and places that we’ll never forget! (B)
