Murray Harbour & Eastern Shore
Outside Expeditions in North Rustico, Prince Edward Island, Canada

Itineraries: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada
"This is a perfect trip for families and beginner kayakers. From here we explore the islets at the river’s mouth, the port of Murray Harbour, and the varied shoreline north to Panmure Island. The warm waters of the Northumberland Strait are among the safest areas for sea kayaking anywhere. The area is rich in bird and marine life, too. Osprey and bald eagles are commonly sighted here and grey harbour seals are likely to accompany us on our excursion. Panmure Island boasts one of the finest beaches on PEI, where we’ll find ample opportunity to enjoy the sun and surf.

North Shore Explorations
Outside Expeditions in North Rustico, Prince Edward Island, Canada

Itineraries: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada
"This camping trip is unparalleled on Prince Edward Island for its dramatic windswept beauty and tranquility. The North Shore has a chain of barrier sand dunes stretching across the opening to Malpeque Bay, creating a unique and stunning vista of ocean and dunes. As a backdrop, there are red sandstone cliffs and the pastoral landscape that typify the Island’s farming heritage. Malpeque Bay is one of PEI’s richest birding areas, including one of the Island’s largest cormorant colonies. And of course we’ll sample the oysters that have made the bay famous all over the world.

Outside Expeditions in North Rustico, Prince Edward Island, Canada

Itineraries: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada
"This inn-to-inn trip takes you the full length of PEI National Park and past a cross-section of some of the Island’s best scenery. There is no better way to appreciate the varied shoreline of the National Park, and no better way to see its rich birdlife, than to paddle along its shores. Cliffs, beaches, saltmarshes, coves, and snug harbours – everything looks different when you see it from the cockpit of a sea kayak. Each night we’ll stay in some of the North Shore’s finest inns, enjoying comfortable rooms and great dining. This trip is suitable for novice to intermediate paddlers.

Family Ride Cavendish to Cardigan
Freewheeling Adventures in Hubbards, Nova Scotia, Canada

Itineraries: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada
"Six days. Cycling, sea-kayaking, walking, boat trips, swimming, and play, at a pace comfortable for children 4-14, and daily options for non-cycling guests.

Prince Edward Island is so well suited to active family holidays, with its beaches, parks, plays, and summery distractions, that it’s the summer home for many families.

You will begin with a bike ride near the PEI National Park, and will have plenty of time to discover the beauty of the north shore beaches and dunes. After warming up amid the temptations and tastes of Cavendish, Stanhope, and Brackley Beach, and paddling on the waters of Malpeque Bay, you will ride the nicest sections of the Confederation Trail enroute to "

The Confederation Trail
Freewheeling Adventures in Hubbards, Nova Scotia, Canada

Itineraries: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada
"Six days of relatively flat cycling almost entirely along the Confederation Trail. No traffic for most of the trip; a good unpaved cycling surface; fine inns; and excellent dining. A magical cycling experience!

Prince Edward Island’s Confederation Trail follows the abandoned rail bed through PEI’s fabulous pastoral landscapes. Originally constructed by a contractor who was paid by the mile, it follows an unusually circuitous route for 280km (174 miles) through many communities whose existence is mainly due to the old railroad.

The cycling is relatively easy on flat and smooth, well-maintained crushed stone surfaces, and the distances are moderate. You will have many opportuniti"
