"Huskies & Mushing
Our first night is spent in a comfortable lodge a short distance from the airport. After settling in to our cosy cabins and having dinner together, there will be time to have a few drinks, relax and even to have a sauna if we want. The next morning we will meet the dogs and learn about mushing. It should not take long before the basics are mastered and we will be on our way. We work on the basis of two people sharing a sled and a team of huskies. In our experience this works very well as guiding the sled and dogs is quite energetic and every hour or so it is good to swap over and just enjoy the experience of racing over the crisp, white snow.

Our base for the next 3 nights is the simple, yet cosy Wild Brown Bear Lodge, situated in the heart of this great wilderness. Walking the easily manageable forest trails and visiting a nature centre are amongst the activities available here - with the ubiquitous Finnish sauna, followed by a swim in the lake offering the perfect end to a day.

From Tromso we head for the wild Vester?len and Lofoten islands that jut out of the Norwegian Sea like jagged teeth. Crossing the sea, we hope to spot whales plunging in the water. We’ll explore the craggy coastline (home to many seabird colonies including puffins), go hiking in the hills, and relax in the sauna in the evening. Next we make a superb drive following the rugged coastal fjords to Narvik, then cut through the mountain range to Abisko in the Swedish fells.
