"Iwokrama Forest - in Search of Jaguar
The capital Georgetown epitomises faded elegance with fine wooden buildings and a riot of tropical vegetation. From here we head into the forested interior and our lodge on the banks of the Essequibo River. Over the coming days we explore the area on foot and by canoe, with a late night wildlife search that offers our best chance of spotting Jaguar. There’s the option to hike up to Turtle Mountain for expansive views over the rainforest canopy, before we head to the Iwokrama Walkway for a 2-night stay to enjoy bird and butterfly spotting.
