After exploring the lively city of Hong Kong, we take an overnight train to Guilin where the rounded limestone peaks of hump-back mountains have inspired poets and painters through the ages. We drift along the Li River to the delightful small town of Yangshuo, where we can enjoy a leisurely bike ride or walk in surrounding villages. The spectacular Longji rice terraces sit tier upon tier climbing up to a staggering 800m. Taking the overnight sleeper train, we arrive in cosmopolitan Shanghai at the mouth of the Yangtse. Travelling south, we continue our journey by boat along the Li River, from which we admire the strange limestone outcrops that have inspired so many Chinese poets and artists over the centuries. From our base in beautiful Yangshuo there are plenty of opportunities for walks or bike rides into the surrounding villages.

After breakfast, enjoy a pedicab tour of the Hutongs, the ??ld city??neighborhood of narrow lanes and courtyard gardens hidden behind Beijing?? modern fa?ade. Visit Prince Gong?? Palace, the Drum Tower, and old-style courtyard houses still inhabited by Beijing residents. Transfer to the airport for your midday flight to Xi??n, and transfer to the Hyatt Regency (or similar).
