"DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN SHANGAI

Upon arrival in Shanghai, you are met by your guide and transferred to the Hengsheng Peninsula Hotel (or similar).

DAY 02: SHANGAI / ZHOUZHUANG (AB,L,D)

Begin your day with a visit to 500-year-old Yuyuan Garden, a retreat amongst the metropolitan rush of Shanghai. Outside the garden gate, the local bazaar is filled with a variety of small, interesting shops. Enjoy a special lunch of Shanghai style dim sum at Lu Po Lang Restaurant. In the afternoon you??l drive one hour to the picturesque water village of Zhouzhuang, with small bridges over running streams, surrounded by traditional architecture. Visit the Forbidden City, residence of Chinese Emperors from 1420 to 1924, and Tian??nmen Square. Continue on to the Summer Palace, the biggest imperial garden in Beijing. Tour the Beijing Botanical Garden which boasts the largest greenhouse in Asia. See a fascinating cooking demonstration of three regional Chinese dishes followed by lunch. Later this afternoon tour the Hutong by rickshaw, visiting a family to see what local Chinese grow in their gardens.
