"Lotus Enterprises opened its first Travel Agency in Bali under the name Lotus Asia Tours in 1991. It then took over the already famous Cafe Lotus in Ubud. The company opened one restaurant every year and to date, there are 9 restaurants owned and managed by the Lotus Restaurants Division .

The venture in Lotus Food Import and Distribution was established in 1992 by acquiring a 50% interest in a fast emerging company, which is now a leader in its field.

In 1993, Lotus Asia Tours opened a branch office in Singapore, followed the years after by other branch offices in Lombok and Yangon (Myanmar). In 1999, the Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) branch was opened.

In March 1997, Lotus Enterprises opened its first large restaurant overseas, ’Cafe Lotus’ at Clarke Quay, Singapore. The second restaurant in Singapore was opened in March 2000 under the name ’Lotus on the River’, also in Clarke Quay. In August 2000 the first restaurant in Lombok was opened.

At the end of 1998, Lotus Enterprises acquired a small property in Candidasa (East of Bali), now renovated and renamed Lotus Bungalows, and the year after another neighbouring small hotel.
