ACE Basin Tours website>> Provides boat tours of the area where the Ashepoo, Combahee and Edisto Rivers converge to form the largest estuarine preserve on the East Coast"Explore the natural beauty, the wildlife and the history of the ACE Basin. The ACE Basin is formed by the confluence of the Ashepoo, Combahee and Edisto Rivers and constitutes a pristine nature preserve of marshes, streams, rivers and sea islands on the Atlantic coast near Beaufort, South Carolina.
ACE Basin Tours, located on the Intracoastal Waterway outside of Beaufort, conducts regular and charter tours of the ACE Basin aboard the Dixie Lady, a 40-passenger covered pontoon boat.
Tours are about three hours long, traveling through the marshes and sea islands of the ACE Basin. Tours leave from the ACE Basin Tours dock on Coosaw Island (see Location). The dock was featured as the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company in the movie Forrest Gump and other scenes from the movie were filmed at nearby sites.
Captain Stan, tour guide and captain, is a former coast guard captain and shrimper with life-long experience of the ACE Basin. He has extensive knowledge of the history and wildlife of the area.
