Boston By Foot, Inc., (BBF) is a non-profit educational corporation now celebrating its 26th anniversary. It was founded by Polly Flansburgh in 1976 to promote public awareness of Boston’s rich architectural heritage. To date, more than 200,000 residents and visitors from around the world have participated in BBF tours.
ORGANIZATION: Boston By Foot is governed by an eleven-member board of trustees. The director, the program coordinator, and a volunteer office staff handle administrative affairs. The tours are conducted by a trained and enthusiastic corps of over 200 volunteer guides, many of whom have served BBF for 15, 20, and even 25 years.
