Due to its policy of inviting and giving free room and board to scientists, PS succeeded in conciliating tourism with conservation and research at the Explores’s Inn, which soon became a well known research station attracting many scientists whose publications in short time made the Tambopata region to be accepted in academic cyrcles as to having the highest biodiversity on earth and holding many world records in different animal species: birds 599 spp. butterflies 1232 spp., dragonflies 153 spp., etc"
