"SunTrips, one of the largest tour operators in the United States, has been in business for 27 years. The company, based in San Jose, CA, commenced operations in 1977 by offering a seasonal program to the Azores, which catered to the ethnic Portuguese communities in the San Francisco Bay Area.

In 1977, SunTrips also began service to the Hawaiian Islands from the San Francisco Bay Area. Today, this successful program continues to offer great vacation values to consumers.

Through the years, SunTrips continued to grow, and in 1988 introduced its Mexico program with nonstop and direct flights from the San Francisco Bay Area to Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Cancun and Cozumel (via Cancun). Due to the success of its Northern California Mexico product SunTrips expanded its Mexico operations in 1996 with nonstop and direct service from Denver to Puerto Vallarta and Cancun. Weekly Los Cabos service from Denver began in February 2004.
